Using this site

This site belongs to the ACI Ottawa Student Chapter, a student group at the University of Ottawa. It exists to tell people what the chapter does and to let students join. Read it, share it, quote it, link to it. By using it you accept what is on this page.

What we ask you not to do

• Do not submit the forms as somebody else, or send an application on a person’s behalf without asking them.
• Do not use the contact or newsletter forms to send bulk, commercial, or abusive messages.
• Do not attempt to break into, overload, or probe the site for weaknesses. If you find one, tell us instead — we would rather hear from you.
• Do not present our material as your own work, or imply the chapter endorses something it has not.

Content and credit

The words, photographs, and project write-ups on this site were produced by chapter members. You are welcome to reference them for study or coursework with a credit back to us. Ask first before republishing a photograph or a full article somewhere else, mainly because members appear in the photos.

The American Concrete Institute name and logo belong to ACI International and are used here as an affiliated student chapter. Sponsor and partner logos belong to those organisations. None of those marks come with this site’s content.

Membership and events

Submitting the membership form is an expression of interest, not a contract. The chapter will get back to you, and we do not turn students away, but we cannot guarantee a place on a competition team, a specific project, or an executive role — those depend on how many people want them.

Chapter membership is separate from individual membership of ACI International and does not grant it. Event dates, speakers, and locations can change; the events page is the current version, and an older announcement elsewhere is not.

This site takes no payments. If an activity such as competition travel carries a cost, it is arranged separately and stated up front.

Accuracy

We keep this site current, but it is maintained by students between coursework and it will sometimes be out of date. Nothing here is engineering advice. Technical material from seminars and student projects is educational — do not rely on it for design, specification, or construction decisions. Use the codes, standards, and a qualified engineer for that.

Links to other sites are there because we found them useful. We do not control them and are not responsible for what they say.

Availability

The site is provided as it is. We do not promise it will always be reachable, and we may change or remove pages without notice. If a form is not working, email us directly at acichapter@uottawa.ca and it will reach the same place.

Privacy

What happens to anything you send us is set out in the privacy policy. The short version: form submissions are emailed to the chapter inbox and the site keeps no copy.
