Learning
The parts of concrete that do not fit in a lecture — mixing it, breaking it, and arguing about the result.

Straight answers
What membership is not
It is worth being clear about the limits, because a student chapter is often confused with the institute it belongs to.
Chapter membership is not the same as individual membership of the American Concrete Institute, and it does not by itself grant access to ACI’s paid publications or certification programmes. It is not a course, it carries no credit, and it is not a job placement service — though the people you meet through it are often how the placement eventually happens.
Common questions
Does it cost anything?
Membership itself is free. A small number of activities — competition travel, for example — may carry a cost, and that is always stated up front.
Do I need to be in civil engineering?
No. Any programme, any year.
How much time does it take?
As little as one seminar a term. Competition teams and executive roles ask for considerably more.
Can I join mid-year?
Yes. The calendar runs all year and there is no intake window.
